‘Children Learning Through Play’

It is February already but it is not too late to say a few thank yous to everyone for their kind contributions and support at our Christmas Concert and party which were held in December. The children looked wonderful dressed up at their Concert and sang some beautiful songs. The children also got a wonderful surprise at the end of their party when Father Christmas popped in to say hello and to deliver some early Christmas presents. Thank you also to Roecroft School and St Marys who invited us all to watch their Christmas Concerts. The children had a wonderful time and both concerts were superb.

Good luck also to the children that left Pippin at Christmas to start ‘big school’ in January.

The topic for this term at Pippin is ‘Cold Weather’ and children will be looking at pictures of snow scenes, artic animals, footprints/tracks, keeping warm, Winter story books and keeping dry.

The next Chinese New Year starts on February 14th. It will be the Year of the Tiger. The children at Pippin will be joining in the New Year merriment by making Chinese lanterns, welcome signs, book marks and other items that are associated with the celebrations that take place for the Chinese New Year.

We are also looking forward to the w/c 8th February when we will be providing after school care at a reduced rate. There will be special activities during this week including a disco.

In March the Pippin Committee are looking forward to a ‘Pudding Evening’ which we are in the process of organising. We are hoping to get lots of puddings donated which can be sampled by all those attending. Recipes will also be available if there is a particular pudding you really enjoy and fancy making one yourself. Look out for further details in our March issue on where to purchase tickets, date and time etc.

Pippin is now running sessions from 3.30 till 6.00pm on a Monday, Wednesday and Friday. There are also places still available on our breakfast club and lunch club and also on our afternoon sessions Monday/Wednesday/Friday 1.00 – 3.30pm. Please contact Rose Sharp on the above telephone number, if you are interested in registering your child for any of these sessions.

The Pippin Committee are always looking for new members so if you have a child at Pippin and can spare a little time each month to attend our meeting and help out with fundraising activities we would love to hear from you.
