Stotfold News June 2009 Issue

‘Children Learning Through Play’
The children have planted their allotment with vegetable seeds and flowers and are having great fun watering them and watching them grow. We feel that it is important that children are aware of where the food they eat comes from, rather than thinking it is just bought at the supermarket! Also we all know some children can be a bit fussy when it comes to eating vegetables but evidence does suggest they are more likely to eat vegetables if they have planted them from seed and have watched them grow!
We all had a great time at the Stotfold Steam Fair in May. Lots of children came to visit us with their teddies and we received some wonderful artwork from the children who entered our ‘Colour Pippin Bear’ competition. Thank you to everyone who came along and supported us.
Our annual Mad Hatter’s Tea Party is being held on Tuesday 16th June, everyone is welcome. The children will get to wear hats they have made, with a little help, in a nursery rhyme theme.
We are, again, taking part in The Barnado’s Big Toddle 2009 on June 25th. This is our annual event when Pippin children collect as many sponsors as they can to raise money for Barnado’s.
There are still a limited number of places available on our breakfast club (£2.75 per session) and lunch club (£2.50 per session) and also on our afternoon sessions Monday/Wednesday/Friday 1.00 – 3.30pm (£8.00 per session). Please contact Rose Sharp on the above telephone number, if you are interested in registering your child.
Hopefully we will have a good warm summer this year! With this in mind can we take this opportunity to remind you to apply your children’s sun lotion before you get them dressed so that they are protected when they play outside. There are some long lasting lotions that, although expensive, are worth the money so that your child does not burn from the lunchtime sun!
If you would like to know more about our pre-school please have a look at our website, give us a call, write us an email or better still come and meet us. We have open mornings every Monday, so please feel free to come along, meet Rose and her staff and see the children enjoying themselves. No need to book, just come along we would love to hear from you.
Thank you for your interest in our pre-school. We look forward to sharing more of our news with you again next month.
