Stotfold News April 2009 Issue

‘Children Learning Through Play’
Easter already! Where has the year gone?
It is a very exciting time at the moment for all of us at Pippin, we have so much going on! What with extending our hours to accommodate requests for a breakfast and lunch club and afternoon sessions; our Under 5s Healthy Eating Award; Parents’ Evening; a visit from the Easter Bunny and the Stotfold Mill Steam & Country Show – and that only takes us to the beginning of May!
The introductions of our BREAKFAST CLUB, LUNCH CLUB AND AFTERNOON SESSIONS have had a great response. I omitted to mention in last month’s issue that we were, also, opening 3 afternoons a week (Mondays, Wednesdays & Fridays). We will be providing a ‘Walking Bus’ to and from the schools. Should you be interested in your little one attending any of our sessions, please contact us regarding places sooner rather than later to avoid any disappointment!
Sharon Goddon & Rose Sharp have been on a nutrition and oral hygiene course which will lead to Pippin attaining THE UNDER 5s HEALTHY EATING AWARD. It is a unique programme, co-ordinated by Health Services, Nutrition and Dietetics and Oral Health Promotion, aimed at improving and promoting healthy lifestyles of children under 5 years old, who are cared for outside their homes in Bedfordshire.
Pippin believe that by committing to the award we are ensuring that all the snacks we provide are healthy, which will help the children to obtain the nutrition they need to sustain them during their time with us each day.
The children (and the grown-ups) are looking forward to Easter and our annual EASTER EGG TRAIL, which, traditionally, includes a visit from a very friendly, fluffy bunny. The little ones will, also, have their sponsored Treasure Hunt to keep them occupied over the Easter holidays.
We have registered with the BIGGLESWADE CHRONICLE COMMUNITY CASH POINT SCHEME 2009 and would appreciate your support to collect as many points as possible. The points can be found on page 2 of the Biggleswade Chronicle every week. Each point is worth the equivalent of 1p. At the end of the year the Chronicle will convert the points into cash for Pippin to spend on an item of choice. There are bonus weeks over the Bank Holidays with extra cash point vouchers. Please pass your vouchers to anyone you know who has a connection with Pippin. There is, also, a folder in the corridor of the Roecroft Centre, on the Pippin noticeboard, where you could place any vouchers collected. Alternatively, ring or email us and we will collect any vouchers that you save. Thank you in advance for your support.
Next month we are looking forward to taking part in the Stotfold Mill Steam Fair & Country Show (9th & 10th May). COME AND SEE US WITH YOUR TEDDY BEAR TUCKED UNDER YOUR ARM AND RECEIVE A TREAT. You will be able to colour a picture of our Pippin Bear and have your artwork displayed on our Wall of Fame – the best colouring from each age group will win a prize. Download the Pippin Bear picture from our website and bring it with you or visit our stand and colour one on site.
That is all from me for this month, but if you would like to know more about our pre-school please have a look at our website, give us a call, write us an email or better still come and meet us. We have open mornings every Monday, so please feel free to visit, meet Rose and her staff and see the children enjoying themselves. No need to book, just come along we would love to hear from you and tell you more about our little Pippin family.
Thank you for your interest in our pre-school and we look forward to sharing more of our news with you again next month.
