Stotfold News January 2009 Issue

‘Children Learning Through Play’
The Pippin Family (children, staff & Committee) would like to wish all the readers of the Stotfold News a very Happy, Healthy and Prosperous New Year!
First of all, we have a couple of all important ‘thank yous’ from the end of last year - Ted and the staff at Timbers Live Music & Cabaret Club, Charlie Monroe of Fortitude Wines Ltd, and the staff at the Pharmacy who all kindly donated prizes for our Quiz night raffle. Also, to all the quizzers who come along in November as they raised a total of £64.63 for ‘Children in Need’ - Thank you.
The end of last term saw our little ones performing their favourite songs (not all Christmas ones!) at their Christmas Concert and enjoying their Christmas Party on the last day of term. Thank you to all the parents and carers who helped and provided food and raffle prizes for both events. Your continual help and support is very much appreciated – thank you.
The children also had the opportunity, in December, to visit Roecroft Lower School & St Mary’s School to see their children in their Christmas and Nativity plays. Thank you for inviting us and well done for your wonderful productions. We would like to take this opportunity in congratulating both schools on achieving their ‘Outstanding’ Ofsted reports at the end of 2008. Well done to you all, that is no mean feat achieving such fantastic reports.
This January, we have some new children joining us at Pippin and we would like to welcome them, and their families, to our little family. We know it can be scary starting somewhere new, both for Mummy and Daddy and for you, but we will help you to settle in quickly and before you know it you will all be making new friends.
January will see the Committee arranging their diaries for fund-raising events for the year, all the events will be listed in our Pippin piece in the Stotfold News, so please keep your eyes open for ways in which you may be able to help us and, the plan is, to have some fun at the same time. Any money raised always goes towards equipment and toys to ensure the children are kept amused and safe. For, example, last year saw the introduction of our Pippin Children’s Library. One of our aims for 2009 is that we would like to expand the selection of books that the children can chose and take home with them on a weekly basis.
One last thank you goes to Derek Manning, of Baldock, who has kindly given us a photocopier. The use of which will reduce our costs (or us having to rely on kind parents) when producing ‘The Pippin Post’, our newsletter, and all the forms that go with keeping the parents informed about Pippin life. Thank you very much Derek, the difference that having a copier in-house will make is immense. Thank you.
If you are interested in your little one coming to our pre-school, we have open mornings every Monday, so please feel free to come along, meet Rose and her staff, and see the children enjoying themselves. No need to book, just come along, but if you would like to give us a call or email please do, as we would love to hear from you and tell you more about our little family.
Thank you for your interest in our pre-school and we look forward to sharing more of our news with you again next month.
