Stotfold News December 2008 Issue

‘Children Learning Through Play’
Santa will be visiting soon – how exciting! I cannot believe that my family and I will be celebrating our 2nd Christmas in Stotfold already – where has the year gone!
The last couple of months have been busy ones. Pippin had its Parent Consultation evening in October – thank you to everyone who came along. The evening was a great success, so much so that we are planning the next parents’ evening for March 2009. Our AGM had a great turnout with some of the parents volunteer to join the Committee, thank you for your support and welcome to the team.
Our Quiz Night in November was a great success, with a record number of teams participating. Thank you to Rachel and her husband for donating their time and being our quizmasters. An enjoyable evening was had by all. Thank you too to all the quizzers for supporting our own ‘children in need’ that night. We would like to say a big THANK YOU to all the raffle prize contributors – without their donations the evening would not have been the success that it was. Thank you to R&E Butchers, Letchworth; Doug’s Barbers; The Flower Hut; Chequers Pub; Hair by Phillip; Days Bakery; Stotfold Pharmacy; Waxing by Lora, Baldock; Maxwells, Biggleswade; India Lodge; Tesco, Baldock; Bangla Garden, Letchworth; The Broadway Cinema, Letchworth; The Rooms; North Herts Leisure Centre; The Co-op and Slimming World.
A special thank you goes to, Pippin staff member, Suzanne who approached a large number of the raffle prize donors personally and, unfortunately, she was not even able to attend the quiz!
In November, Pippin was very pleased to launch its own book library for the children. Each child can select a book and take it home for the week to read through with Mum or Dad. We have a selection of books that we would like to include in our library, so if you would like to contribute we have a list of specific titles that we think the children would enjoy. Any books donated will have a bookplate inserted with the donor’s details.
Christmas cards, calendars and decorations are on the plan for December’s creative activities for the children. The children will also be taking part in the ‘Festival of Trees’ at St Mary’s Church on the 6th December. Pippin’s entry this year is entitled ‘All Stars’. The children’s Christmas Concert will be held on Monday 15th December, we are all looking forward to seeing the children all dressed up and performing their favourite carols. If last year’s concert is anything to go by, a few tears will be shed - by the parents! Last, but by no means least, the children’s Christmas Party will be held on the last day of term and, as the children have behaved so well this year, we are hoping that there may be a visit from a special Festive visitor.
This is also a sad time for Pippin as we will be saying ‘farewell’ to a number of our lovely children as they move on to ‘big’ school. We would like to wish them well as they move on to make new friends and learn new things and hope that they will take with them fond memories of their time at Pippin. We would love to see you in your school uniforms and look forward to you coming back to visit us.
Finally this year, thank you to all the people who have supported Pippin over this last year and to everyone involved in the production and distribution of the Stotfold News for their support. We would like to close the year by wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and a Healthy, Happy & Prosperous 2009 from the children, staff and Committee of Pippin Pre-School.
Thank you for your interest in our pre-school and we look forward to sharing more of our news with you again next month.
