‘Children Learning Through Play’

We are pleased to see a number of new children join the Pippin family this term and to report that they have settled in beautifully, as has our new staff member!

This term the children will be concentrating on themselves and their family. They have already brought in photos of themselves growing up, their parents and their grandparents. The rest of this term will be chatting about other members of their family, any pets they may have, their favourite books or stories and their favourite toys.

The children will then be making a display for the annual Arts and Crafts display at the Memorial Hall on 11th October, based on themselves and their families. The end of October is Hallowe’en so the children will be making masks, ghosts and other items associated with All Hallows Eve. Here is a top tip for Hallowe’en, if your pumpkin lantern shrivels up, you can restore it by soaking it overnight in water to rehydrate it.

Our appreciation and thanks this month goes to Stephen, Mark & John for giving up their Sunday and laying the flooring at the entrance to the Roecroft Centre. The flooring looks fantastic and brightens up the whole area. We are sure that all the users of the centre appreciate their work and the difference the new flooring, donated by Altro, makes. Thank you all.

We have a couple of events this month. Our AGM and Parent Consultation Evening is being held on Thursday 16th October. This will be held at Pippin Pre-School, The Roecroft Centre, Church Road, starting at 8pm. The AGM will give everyone the opportunity to have their say with regard to the running of the pre-school. A new committee will also be elected at this time. Parents are encouraged to attend. This is your opportunity to discuss your child’s progress and view their work with their key-worker.

Pippin is pleased to tell you about their Annual Quiz Night, where we hope to raise some money for new equipment and toys for the children. Friday 14th November is the date and the event is being held at St Mary’s Church Hall, Church Road, Stotfold, 7.30pm for an 8pm start. The entry fee for the quiz is £14 for a team consisting of up to 6 members (which works out as only £2.50 per person), or £3 for individual quizzers/extra team members. The evening will include a raffle & maybe a silly game or two to raise as much as we can. Just turn up on the night or, alternatively, register your team’s details in advance, please email Alternatively, click here to email the committee with your details (main contact’s name & number, number of members in your team and your team name). Come along and see if you can win the trophy.

Thank you for your interest in our pre-school and we look forward to sharing more of our news with you again next month.
