Stotfold News September 2008 Issue

‘Children Learning through Play’
Such is the demand for space in the Stotfold News that I missed a space in last month’s edition, so am hoping to get in early enough for the September issue!
The end of last term saw us have our annual Rainbow Party. All the children were dressed in their tie-dyed t-shirts and had a great morning (as did I) icing biscuits, making hats, dancing and playing party games.
A big THANK YOU to Brian Sharp, who is Chairman of the Bedfordshire Steam Preservation Society, he donated the first prize for our Mad Hatter’s Tea Party raffle. The lucky winner received a family ticket for the steam rally at Old Warden Park (Shuttleworth) on the 13th/14th September.
Another ‘thank you’ goes to Altro in Letchworth for kindly donating the new floor covering for the entrance hallway in the Roecroft Centre. I am sure all the users of the centre, not just Pippin Pre-School, very much appreciate Altro’s kindness. The floor will be, hopefully, be laid in time for the start of the new term.
The end of last term saw us say farewell to Karen Graham, who has moved on to set up her own hair dressing business – best of luck with your new venture, Karen. Also, we said ‘bye bye’ to Vicky Haskell, whose daughter has now moved on to ‘big’ school. However, Vicky will still be with us as a dedicated committee member.
In view of Karen and Vicky’s departures, we are pleased to welcome a new team member, Jane Yianni. Jane has been involved with Pippin for a number of years as her son attended Pippin and she has been a valued member of the committee for a number of years. Unfortunately, we will miss Jane on the committee but hope to be able to call on her graphic design abilities to help us out. Good luck in your new role, Jane.
The new term starts on Wednesday September 3rd September when we will welcome a number of new children to Pippin. We hope that they will settle in quickly and would like to welcome them, and their parents, to our family.
A couple of dates for your diary, although I will be reminding you of these again. Our AGM & Parent Consultation Evening takes place on Thursday 16th October – all parents are invited to attend. This is your opportunity to have your say, meet with the staff and other parents and elect the pre-school’s committee for the next year. More importantly, this is your chance to speak to your child’s key-worker and view any work your little ones may have created!
Pippin’s annual Quiz Night is being held on Friday 14th November in St Mary’s Church Hall, if you are interested in entering a team please email: committee@pippinpre-school.org. Posters and details will be around the town shortly.
That is all for now, more details and information can be found on our website - why not take a look!
Thank you for your interest in our pre-school and we look forward to sharing more of our news with you again next month.
