‘Children Learning through Play’
This time last month we were drenched in sunshine, now we are all just drenched! However, it is great fun jumping in the muddy puddles and I am sure that the children enjoy it too!
During June we had great fun watching our vegetables and flowers, that we have planted over the last couple of months, emerge from the soil. More recently the children have enjoyed planting some bedding plants that were kindly donated by Taylor’s Nursery & Garden Centre. We would like to give them a BIG THANK YOU as the children have learnt about the plants, how to care for them and are excited about watching them grow in our allotment.
Our annual Mad Hatter’s Tea Party, during Stotfold Festival Week, once again, saw the children make some wonderful nursery rhyme themed hats. The children wore their hats and sang their nursery rhymes to their families and friends before having a lovely tea party. Thank you to everyone who helped organise the event and to those who donated prizes for our raffle. A lovely morning was had by all.
The end of June saw the Pippin children take part in The Barnado’s Big Toddle. The children raised money, through sponsorship, and then had a Big Toddle around the Roecroft Centre and St Mary’s Church grounds. Congratulations to all the children who took part and thank you to all the helpers that came along and made sure the children were kept safe during their sponsored toddle.
This month thanks also goes to Steve, the husband of a Pippin committee member. He gave up an evening and put up all the chalk and magnetic boards in the playground. The children have really enjoyed using them when they are playing outside, it has made a difference to their time in the playground.
July sees the end of the school year and with that we hold our Rainbow Party on the last day of term for all the Pippin children. Each child will chose a colour of the rainbow in which to dye a t-shirt, then the children, under Rose’s watchful eye, will get the chance to tie dye their t-shirt for the party. The children and staff will then celebrate with a ‘colourful’ feast.
Please make a note in your diary for Thursday 16th October, this is when we will be holding our AGM and Parent Consultation Evening. Current and prospective parents are all invited to attend; meet the staff, the committee, other parents and to have your say and ask any questions. This is also your opportunity to discuss your child’s work and progress at Pippin with their key worker.
Very importantly, we would like to thank everyone who has helped Pippin over the past school year with little jobs, contributions, donations, their time and support and to let you all know that everything you have done and continue to do for us is very much appreciated. It is the volunteers on the committee, their friends, families, local businesses and individuals, not forgetting the staff, that keep Pippin on the Stotfold map. THANK YOU VERY, VERY MUCH.
Finally this term, Rose, her staff and the committee would like to wish all the children well, who are moving on to ‘Big’ school in September. We have enjoyed your time with us, and hope you have too. Best wishes to you all.
Thank you for your interest in our pre-school and we look forward to sharing more of our news with you again next month.
