Stotfold News April 2008 Issue

‘Children Learning through Play’
We have a few items to report back about from last month. Pippin had a pyjama day on the 7th March – all the children and the staff wore theirs pjs for the morning. I was very envious when I popped in to visit and saw how cosy they all looked.
To celebrate Easter the committee arranged an Easter Treasure Hunt for the children and their siblings. A number of pictured clues were posted around the neighbouring roads, with bunny feet showing which way to go. After spotting all the clues the children returned to the Roecroft Centre, armed with their answers, where they received a chocolate bunny from their surprise guest The Easter Bunny!
We have quite a few thank yous this issue. The people of Stotfold have been very generous to our pre-school. Your contributions are very much appreciated as it is thanks to your donations that we are able to keep Pippin, a registered charity, running. The committee, in particular, welcomes your support as we are continuously trying to think of novel ways in which to keep the funds coming in to the pre-school. To that end, we would like to give a BIG thank you to Sarah, Annette and the staff from STEPHENS ESTATE AGENTS for kindly purchasing the chocolate Easter bunnies that the children received after their Easter Treasure Hunt.
Last month, Timbers held their annual charity dinner and dance, a number of Pippin staff and committee members were present and a great evening was enjoyed by all. We would like a BIG thank you to go to Ted, Nicola, Mark and all the people from TIMBERS who, by holding the event, raised money for a number of local charities. Pippin Pre-School was only one of the grateful recipients who benefited from a donation from the monies raised from the evening’s festivities.
A thank you from the Pippin family also goes to Fred Knowles and FUTURE ELECTRONICS who made a considerable donation. Thank you to everyone for thinking of us and being so generous. Rose, our pre-school leader, is looking forward to purchasing some new toys and equipment for the children to enjoy.
Now for a little history lesson - there are many firsts that took place in the month of April of yonder years, for example, it was on the 12th April 1606 that the Union Jack became the official flag of Britain; in April 1633 bananas, never seen before in England, went on sale in a London shop; the first broadcast of “The Sky at Night” took place on the 26th April 1957, and in April 1969 Concorde made its maiden flight. The point of these facts is that Pippin Pre-School would like to add its ‘first’ so that it can be included into the ‘April of yesteryears’ history books by proudly announcing the launch of our new website www.pippinpre-school.org.
Please take the time to have a look at our site, we hope that you will find it informative and to provide the parents, children, their carers, prospective families, and anyone who may be interested, with an insight into life at Pippin.
Thank you for your interest and we look forward to sharing more of our news with you again next month.
